Art On The Go
Three month performance taking place on my head once a week on Thursday evenings.
Tel Aviv Galleries | March-May 2014
Hosted Artists
Art on the Go is a performance born of the desire to create art that interacts directly with people while exploring the Tel Aviv art scene and my place in it. When conceiving this performance, I couldn’t imagine the intense, emotional and at times simply funny interactions it would lead to.
In this three months’ performance I invited 13 artists to create a sculpture on my head using my hair as the medium and inspiration, A strict set of rules guided this action. Each Thursday, hours before the galleries opening events, the invited artist arrived at my home with ideas and materials. Together we constructed a sculpture on my head. Following the intimate interaction, we set out to the various galleries together. When the distances allowed we walked between them and so the piece existed and moved not only within the art galleries but also on the street.
As the evening progressed it included conversations with the people we encountered in the galleries as well as with people passing by on the street. Questions and comments about the nature of art, gender, authorship, the limits of the art scene and more. Unique urban choreographies were improvised - from people standing directly over me to read the text in the book Moran Shuv placed on my head to going round and round me naming all the objects that Maya Sharabani tangled into my hair.
